Bingo! This meal was eaten in Koya. If you stay in the Buddhist temples there, of course you are served food with no meat, onions, garlic, etc. As you probably know, this tofu is "gomadofu," the best tofu I've ever had. Good work Satoko!
I was born in upstate New York, but was an army brat, so lived in 5 different states. I have been in Japan around 6 years, but only in Kansai for less than a year. Please teach me Kansai-ben! Before Kansai, I spent a few years teaching in Hokkaido.
